Caltrans issued the following press release:
Bishop – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) would like to alert the traveling public that US Highway 395 from Mandich Lane to US Highway 6 will have lane closures this week from 9:00 pm to 7:00 am. Maintenance workers will be crack sealing, striping and performing general maintenance work on the highway during these hours.
Night work has been scheduled due to the high traffic volume during the daylight hours on this portion of US Highway 395.
Caltrans performs periodic crack sealing because it is one of the most cost effective road pavement preservation tools available. Sealing cracks in asphalt pavement is a commonly used maintenance procedure which reduces pavement deterioration by eliminating surface water penetration into underlying base and sub-base layers. Cracks left untreated will lead to more cracks, alligator cracking, potholes and sub-base failure.
When approaching a lane closure the traveling public is advised to reduce their speed, observe the Caltrans signs, and watch for personnel and equipment working on the highway.

To the folks on the East side of the Sierra’s… Your Caltrans folks are truly the best… They truly care and most of the employees are Eastern side locals… Don
I request they fix the deep bump in the road on East Line (about the 300 block). They were doing construction and it looks like they’re done except the bump is SO rough. I slow down to like 5 miles an hour because Im scared if I drive any faster its gonna screw up my tires or alignment !
Just a note that East Line Street is not part of State Route 168 as West Line Street is, therefore Caltrans does not maintain this portion of the roadway.
Awesome, Caltrans dropping a couple million more dollars into the local Eastern Sierra economy!
It’s tax money, our money, and we don’t get good value for our tax dollars.
sheeple…
