Traffic Advisory for the Week of 6/8/2026 to 6/12/2026

EASTERN KERN, INYO, and MONO COUNTIES – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) announces the following project work and traffic impacts for the week of June 8 – June 12.

Work schedules are subject to change due to traffic incidents, weather, availability of equipment and/or materials, and/or construction-related issues.

New Traffic Impacts

Eastern Kern County

·    Ridgecrest Utility Work – On State Route 178 E from Reeves Avenue to Brady Street, the shoulders in both directions will close while utility crews perform station work Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.

·    Cache Creek Pavement Sealing – On State Route 58 from the truck scale house to Cameron Canyon Road near Mojave, the westbound outside lane and shoulder will close while crews seal pavement cracks Wednesday through Friday from 8:30 am to 3:00 pm. Drivers may experience brief delays.

Inyo County

·    Bishop Creek Utility Work – On State Route 168 W from Reservoir Road to Big Trees Road near Aspendell, utility crews will replace wires and poles Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. There will be one-way traffic control, and drivers may experience 5-minute delays.

·    Pearsonville Guardrail Repair – On U.S. 395 near Five Mile Canyon Road, the northbound outside lane and shoulder will close while crews repair guardrail Monday through Thursday from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. Drivers may experience brief delays.

Mono County

·    Bridgeport Utility Work – On U.S. 395 from Green Creek Road to Jack Sawyer Road, the shoulders in both directions will close while utility crews replace poles and wires on Tuesday from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. Drivers may experience brief delays.

Ongoing Traffic Impacts

Inyo County

·    Meadow Farms ADA Project – On the northbound lanes of U.S. 395, the outside lane and shoulder remain closed from the Bishop Creek Bridge to Barlow Lane while crews construct sidewalks, curbs, and gutter. The shoulders in both directions will intermittently close from Tu Su Lane to See Vee Lane while crews construct decorative light poles. All driveways remain accessible during construction. Bridge work over Bishop Creek will continue through the end of May. The speed limit within the work area is 25 mph. Work is scheduled Tuesday through Friday from 6:00 am to 8:00 pm. Drivers may experience brief delays.

·    Bishop Pavement Project – The southbound outside lane and sidewalk of U.S. 395 between Academy Avenue and Line Street is closed for sidewalk and drainage work, and turns onto Academy Avenue and Church Street are unavailable. The speed limit is reduced to 35 mph from See Vee Lane to Wye Road. Work is scheduled Monday through Friday from 6:30 am to 6:00 pm. Drivers may experience brief delays.

·    Manzanar Pavement Project – On U.S. 395 from Fish Hatchery Road near the Fort Independence Reservation to 2.5 miles south of the Manzanar National Historic Site, crews are rehabilitating the pavement, constructing pedestrian bulbouts in Independence, and installing a flashing pedestrian beacon with a mast arm at Market Street. Northbound traffic has switched to the inside southbound lane using a temporary crossover about two miles south of Manzanar. One lane in each direction is closed in town. The speed limit is reduced to 55 mph and 25 mph within Independence. Work is scheduled Monday through Friday from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm. Drivers may experience delays.

·    Lone Pine Sidewalks Project – On U.S. 395 in Lone Pine, the outside lane and shoulders in both directions are closed while crews build sidewalks in the following locations:

·    From Teya Road to Inyo Street,

·    From Locust Road to E. Lubken Avenue.

Work is scheduled Monday through Friday from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm. Drivers may experience brief delays.

Mono County

·    Mammoth Restoration Work – On U.S. 395 from State Route 203 to Sawmill Cutoff Road, the shoulders in both directions will close while crews perform vegetation restoration work on Monday from 7:00 am to 4:30 pm.

·    June Lake Utility Work – On State Route 158 just west of North Shore Road to just before Boulder Lodge, there will be one-way traffic control while utility crews continue to replace wires Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. Drivers may experience 5-minute delays.

The Manzanar Pavement Project received $44.64 million, the Bishop Pavement Project received $18.36 million, the Meadow Farms ADA Project received $13.56 million from the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act of 2021 (IIJA) – also known as the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. Under IIJA, California will receive an estimated $41.9 billion over five years. IIJA provides significant funding to rebuild California’s transportation system, including support to improve roadways, bridges, freight projects, public transportation, infrastructure safety enhancements, and to increase infrastructure resiliency to the impacts of severe weather and climate change. The Manzanar Pavement Project received $5.78 million and the Bishop Pavement Project received $2.4 million from Senate Bill (SB) 1. SB 1, the Road Repair and Accountability Act of 2017, provides $5 billion in transportation funding annually split between the state and local agencies. Road projects progress through construction phases more quickly based on the availability of SB 1 funds, including projects that are partially funded by SB 1.
