Traffic Advisory for the Week of 4/27/2026 to 5/1/2026

EASTERN KERN, INYO, and MONO COUNTIES – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) announces the following project work and traffic impacts for the week of April 27 – May 1. 

Work schedules are subject to change due to traffic incidents, weather, availability of equipment and/or materials, and/or construction-related issues. 

New Traffic Impacts

Eastern Kern County

• Cameron Canyon Pavement and Guardrail Repair – On State Route 58 from Tehachapi Boulevard at Exit 156 to just west of Exit 165 near Mojave, the eastbound outside lane and shoulder will close while crews repair pavement and replace guardrail. Work is scheduled Tuesday and Wednesday from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm. Drivers may experience brief delays

Inyo County

• South Lake Road Pole Placement – On State Route 168 W near South Lake Road, utility crews will replace poles on Monday from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. There will be one-way traffic control, and drivers may experience 5-minute delays.
• Round Valley Wire Crossing – On U.S. 395 from Mill Creek Road to Pine Creek Road near Bishop, there will be intermittent traffic breaks while utility crews cross wire over the roadway on Monday from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. Drivers may experience 5-minute delays. 

Ongoing Traffic Impacts

Inyo County

• Meadow Farms ADA Project – On the northbound lanes of U.S. 395, the outside lane and shoulder are closed from the Bishop Creek Bridge to Barlow Lane while crews construct sidewalks, curbs, and gutter. Half of the Matlick Lane driveway will close at a time Tuesday and Wednesday for drainage work, and flaggers will be on site to direct traffic. The southbound shoulder will intermittently close from Tu Su Lane to See Vee Lane while crews construct light pole foundations and erect the poles. All driveways remain accessible during construction. Bridge work over Bishop Creek will continue through the end of May. The speed limit within the work area is 25 mph. Work is scheduled Tuesday through Friday from 6:00 am to 8:00 pm. Drivers may experience brief delays.
• Bishop Pavement Project – Sidewalk work on the northbound side of U.S. 395 will conclude next week, and the traffic controls currently in place will lift. The right-turn pocket on E. Line Street onto U.S. 395 and the left-turn pocket onto U.S. 395 from W. Line Street are closed. Access to Willow Street from U.S. 395 is unavailable. On North Sierra Highway, the southbound outside lane and shoulder are closed until crews finish the multi-use path and landscaping in the area. The speed limit is reduced to 35 mph from See Vee Lane to Wye Road. Work is scheduled Monday through Friday from 6:30 am to 6:00 pm. Drivers may experience brief delays.
• Fish Springs Pavement – On U.S. 395 from Elna Road to State Route 168 E, there will be intermittent lane closures while crews stripe the lanes in both directions. Work is scheduled Monday through Friday from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm. Drivers may experience brief delays.  

Mono County

• June Lake Utility Work – On State Route 158 from Aspen Road to Powerhouse Road, utility crews will replace poles on Tuesday from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. There will be one-way traffic control, and drivers may experience 10-minute delays. 

The Bishop Pavement Project received $18.36 million, the Meadow Farms ADA Project received $13.56 million, and the Fish Springs Pavement Project received $36.79 million from the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act of 2021 (IIJA) – also known as the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. Under IIJA, California will receive an estimated $41.9 billion over five years. IIJA provides significant funding to rebuild California’s transportation system, including support to improve roadways, bridges, freight projects, public transportation, infrastructure safety enhancements, and to increase infrastructure resiliency to the impacts of severe weather and climate change. The Fish Springs Pavement Project received $4.77 million and the Bishop Pavement Project received $2.4 million from Senate Bill (SB) 1. SB 1, the Road Repair and Accountability Act of 2017, provides $5 billion in transportation funding annually split between the state and local agencies. Road projects progress through construction phases more quickly based on the availability of SB 1 funds, including projects that are partially funded by SB 1. Find out how California is building for a better tomorrow by visiting build.ca.gov.
