Towne Pass Rockfall Project – 24 Hour Traffic Control
Inyo County – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) has begun a project to realign the Towne Pass section of State Route 190 in Death Valley National Park which is about 11 miles east of Panamint Springs.
Construction is scheduled to work 24 hours a day during the week of March 27th – March 30th. Drivers should anticipate one way traffic control with flaggers stopping traffic and a pilot car. Delays should not be more than 15 minutes.
After March 30th, drivers will be rerouted to an unpaved surface with reduced speeds until the end of April.
Roadwork is expected to be completed by the end of May 2013.
The contractor for this $2,538,107 project is Steve Manning Construction of Redding, CA.
For the safety of the construction crew and motorists, please be attentive to closures, slow for the cone zone, and move over one lane where possible.
