The Inyo Sheriffs
Department reports that A 31 year old Bishop resident has been arrested
attempted murder and arson after a house fire early Sunday morning.

The Bishop Volunteers were called out to a report of a structure fire
at 199 S. Barlow, just after midnight Saturday. Before the Volunteers
arrived on scene to put the fire out, two Bishop Police officers and a
Sheriff Deputy entered the burning building to wake the people who
lived there and get them to safety.

Inyo Detective Marston Motwieler reports that the officers and the
deputy escorted three people and a toddler under the age of two, out of
the building. No one was injured.

Sheriff investigators report that they quickly determined that the fire
was arson. Sunday morning, Deputies arrested 31 year old Stuart Kinney
of Bishop in connection with the alleged arson.

Detective Motwieler reports that the suspect was under the influence of
alcohol and knew that there were people in the building. Sheriff
investigators report that Kinney was booked on four counts of attempted
murder and arson of an occupied residence and is being held on $530,000
bail.
