The BUHS Girls and Boys Track & Field teams traveled to Bakersfield on a hot day to compete in the High Desert League (HDL) Finals, facing off against Boron, Kern Valley, California City, Mammoth, Rosamond, and Desert High School.

 

We’re proud to report that the BUHS Boys Team brought home 1st Place with a commanding 165 points, while the Girls Team earned an impressive 3rd Place finish with 54 points!

 

Standout Performances:

Joseph Lent (Senior) – Three-peat HDL Discus Champion, also placed 2nd in Shot Put.

 

Steven Veenker (Senior) – 1st in the 800m and 2nd in the 1600m, leading the distance crew.

 

Layton Rossi (Senior) – Achieved a huge personal best to win Shot Put, and placed 3rd in Discus.

 

Hunter Dailey (Freshman) – Dominated jumps with 1st in Long Jump and Triple Jump, breaking his own BUHS freshman record in Triple Jump at 38’0″, and contributed to the 3rd place 4x100m relay.

 

Dacia Clark (Sophomore) – Earned 1st in the Girls High Jump with a mark of 4’10”.

 

Embry Aguilera (Freshman) – Set a new BUHS freshman record in the 100m Hurdles.

 

Meghenna Westervelt (Senior) – Broke her own Senior Class Record in the 300m Hurdles.
