BP Warriors stay perfect

The Baker Valley Braves traveled to Big Pine last Saturday for a Hi-Lo League game. They didn’t have a Chance.

That would be Chance Colvin, who scored five touchdowns and helped lead the No. 1-ranked and undefeated Big Pine Warriors to a 64-18 Homecoming victory.

Colvin, a senior, had a great day Saturday. He not only continued to dominate Big Pine opponents, but was named Homecoming King at halftime. (Joleen Harris was Homecoming Queen.)

Colvin caught five passes for 120 yards, including four touchdown receptions. He had 98 yards rushing and TD, intercepted two passes and had a fumble recovery.

“He’s the most coachable great athlete I’ve had,” Warrrior coach Mark Tillemans said. “He takes criticism, is always working hard in practice. He’s just great to have around.”

The Warriors had plenty of other fine performances. Tillemans was substituting liberally by the start of the second quarter

David Seymour was impressive on 11-of-15 passing for 200 yards and four touchdowns; he also had 31 yards rushing on just three carries.

Rusty Tillemans caught five passes for 73 yards, had 45 yards rushing and two TDs on seven carries, and seven tackles on defense.

Freshman Tyler Amisone had 10 tackles and 44 yards rushing, while brother Skylar Amisone had five tackles and 25 yards rushing.

Making all that offense happen was “the rock of the team,” coach Tillemans said, noting the line play of Colton Carrington, Dustin Newman and Holdon Rangel.

Isiah Bacoch had 61 yards passing and a TD, Jose Limas caught three passes for 38 yards and TD and Suma Davis had nine tackles.

Also contributing defensively were Nick Santiago, Eric Birmingham, Ryan Carrington, Jesse Chirrick, Ivan Rodriguez, Ronnie Dina, Justin Smead and Mikey Mason.

Big Pine remained at No. 1 in this week’s CIF-Southern Section 8-Man Division II poll, a spot the Warriors have held since the pre-season. Big Pine improved to 3-0 in Hi-Lo League play, 7-0 overall and will host Immanuel Christain (Ridgecrest) in a league battle this Saturday.
