Monday night, a woman called 911, said she needed police and hung up. Sheriff’s deputies rushed to 347 Winuba where they
found a woman who had been cut with a knife.
Sheriff’s Sergeant Jeff Hollowell said that officers found a victim sliced on the face with a knife. She was rushed to Northern Inyo Hospital for emergency treatment and had sustained a major injury, Hollowell said.
Officers searched for the suspect and arrested 20-year-old Airana Rose Benninger of Bishop. She was booked into the Inyo County Jail on assault with a deadly weapon and aggravated mayhem. Hollowell said that the victim was fighting with the suspect’s sister at the home on Winuba. He said the suspect then came after the victim with a knife.
