The Bishop Sunrise Rotary Club is sponsoring a free public Candidate Forum for the Bishop Unified School District (BUSD) Board race to be held on Thursday, October 10 at 6:30 PM in the fellowship hall of the Bishop United Methodist Church. All four Candidates for the BUSD Board – Steve Elia, Karen Keehn, Jamie Morley, and Michelle Mulligan – will be present and speaking at the event. Kristina Blüm Justice will be the moderator for the evening.

Rotary Clubs and Rotarians support education through scholarships, donations, and service projects around the world. The Bishop Sunrise Rotary Club is hosting this forum to encourage local voters to be active and informed on matters affecting public education. “Our local public schools have such a big impact on the lives and futures of our children and fellow community members,” notes Bishop Sunrise Rotary President Betsy McDonald. “Rotary is offering this forum so BUSD area voters can meet and learn more about each of the four candidates and what they would bring to the School Board.”

For this forum, all BUSD Board candidates have been provided advance questions that they will answer during the first half of the program. After a brief intermission, the candidates will respond to questions generated by the audience. During the intermission, there will be a presentation about the Bishop Union High School and Home Street Middle School Repair Bond. Light refreshments will be available. The Bishop United Methodist Church is located at 205 N Fowler Street.

The Bishop Sunrise Rotary Club meets on Wednesdays at 7:30 AM in the Northern Inyo Hospital Annex Conference Room at 2957 Birch Street in Bishop. Our growing club fosters future leaders, creates positive change in our community, and lends a hand to people in need here at home and beyond our borders. Guests and visitors are always welcomed! Wake up and join us! To find out more about our club, please send us an email via [email protected].
