Press release
It is not even Halloween yet, but your friends at the Bishop Chamber of Commerce are already busy making plans for several fun community Christmas events.
The Main Street Christmas Parade is schedule for Saturday, December 3rd. Start time will be 4:30 pm.
“We heard many great comments from last year’s first-ever night time parade,” explains organizer April Leeson. “Some people suggested starting just a little earlier and sunset is scheduled for 4:30 on that date.”
The Chamber is hopeful that all parade participants will light up Main Street to celebrate the theme “Please Come Home for Christmas!” The theme was chosen to honor all First Responders that serve and protect our community.
Immediately following the parade, everyone is encouraged to gather in the Bishop City Park for the official Tree Lighting Ceremony, then stroll downtown for the Street of Lights merchant party.
Many shops will be open late, offering great deals and refreshments. Get official Street of Lights Map stamped by participating merchants for a chance to win great raffle prizes and $500 cash.
The 2nd Annual Railroad Express event is scheduled for Saturday, December 10th at Laws Museum. Families with young children will enjoy train rides, live entertainment, refreshments, crafts and activities, plus visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus.
“The Railroad Express was so much fun last year and we’re hopeful everyone will mark their calendars now to attend this year.”
Registration forms for Christmas Parade participants and Street of Lights merchants are available now at the Bishop Chamber of Commerce, 690 N. Main Street. The Chamber also welcomes event volunteers and cosponsors.
