Assemblyman David Tangipa Secures $400,000 Grant for Southern Inyo Healthcare District
Grant Will Help Preserve Critical Healthcare Services for Eastern Sierra Communities
(Clovis, CA) – Assemblyman David Tangipa announced that the Southern Inyo Healthcare District has been awarded a $400,000 grant through California’s Distressed Hospital Small Grant Program, providing much-needed support to help maintain healthcare services for residents of Inyo County and surrounding rural communities.
The grant was awarded through the California Department of Health Care Access and Information (HCAI), which recently distributed funding to hospitals facing significant financial challenges and at risk of closure. Southern Inyo Healthcare District was one of only four hospitals statewide selected to receive funding through the highly competitive program. Assemblyman Tangipa worked closely with state officials and local healthcare leaders to advocate for the funding, emphasizing the critical role Southern Inyo Healthcare District plays in providing emergency care, primary care, and other essential health services to residents across the Eastern Sierra.
“Access to healthcare should not depend on your ZIP code,” said Assemblyman David Tangipa. “Southern Inyo Healthcare District is a lifeline for thousands of residents, families, seniors, and visitors in our rural communities. I am grateful to HCAI for recognizing the importance of this facility and providing these resources to help ensure healthcare remains available close to home.”
Tangipa also thanked the leadership and staff of Southern Inyo Healthcare District for their continued dedication to serving patients despite significant financial pressures facing rural healthcare providers across California.
“Rural hospitals face unique challenges, from workforce shortages to rising operational costs,” Tangipa added. “The doctors, nurses, and healthcare professionals at Southern Inyo Healthcare District continue to provide exceptional care under difficult circumstances, and they deserve our support.”
