A bad accident that left one local man with major injuries may be alcohol related according to the Highway Patrol. Officers report that Sunday night, just before 9:00, 61 year old Robert Correa of Bishop was driving northbound on Highway 6 just south of Rudolph Ranch Road.

How fast the man was driving is not known, officers report, but witnesses say that the driver tried to pass a slower vehicle and lost control. The white, 1991 Acura, slid across the sideways across the road in front of the vehicle Correa was trying to pass and rolled several times into an open field. Officers report that Correa was ejected from the Acura during the accident. He was taken to Northern Inyo Hospital with major injuries.

The accident remains under investigation. Highway Patrol reports that Officers arrested Correa at the Hospital for driving under the influence of alcohol, and then released him due to his injuries.
