At about noon Tuesday, emergency workers were called out to Line Street for a woman who had been hit by a car.
Police say the victim, a 51 year old female, was crossing Line Street at Pioneer Lane and within sight of Northern Inyo Hospital when she was hit by a red Honda Fit, driven by an 82 year old driver. The victim was taken to Northern Inyo Hospital with what was reported as injuries to the head.
With six collisions in the same area over the past five years, Bishop Police Chief Kathleen Sheehan says that Caltrans worked with the City of Bishop to improve the visibility at the intersection of Pioneer and West Line Street. Additional red curbed no parking areas were added to keep parked cars from blocking the vision of drivers.
Chief Sheehan says that it is not known if line of sight was a factor in this collision Tuesday.
