The Bishop Boys Varsity Basketball Team was on the road against Rosamond Tuesday night for a league matchup. The Broncos needed to win to stay undefeated in league play. And they had their hands full to start the game. The Broncos came out slow and could not find the basket and fell behind early finishing the first quarter with only 4 points to Rosamonds 13. They started to turn things around in the second quarter by playing tough defense and finding their shots with both Dom Dondero and Richie Talavera both scoring 5 points a piece in the quarter and trailed by only 6 at the half 25-19.
The second half is where the Broncos turned it around starting on the defensive end where they pressed the roadrunners and got them to commit several turnovers. Six different Broncos scored in the third quarter and they outscored Rosamond 17-9 and led 36-34 going into the fourth. Chris Charley really came alive in the fourth quarter scoring 12 of his 14 including two big three pointers down the stretch to help the Broncos get a much needed win on the road 50-44.
Leading scorer’s for the Broncos were Chris Charley with 14 points followed by Dom Dondero with 9, Emory Dondero and Richie Talavera both had 8 points, Devaun Mitchell had 7 points, Brady Kalk and Jakobe Dondero both added 2 points.
The Broncos are now 4-0 in league play and will play again on Friday when the 4-0 Desert Scorpions come to town for a battle for first place in the High Desert League.
