FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Traffic Advisory for the Week of 12/23/2024 – 12/27/2024
EASTERN KERN, INYO, and MONO COUNTIES – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) announces the following project work and traffic impacts for the week of December 23 – December 27.
There will be no work on the State Highway System on December 25.
Work schedules are subject to change due to traffic incidents, weather, availability of equipment and/or materials, and/or construction-related issues.
Ongoing Traffic Impacts
Eastern Kern County
· Cache Creek/Keene Scales CMS Project – On State Route 58 at the Cache Creek Scales near Mojave and near Hart Flat Road at Exit 137 west of Tehachapi, crews will pause work on the construction of new CMS boards, until after the holidays. Once construction resumes, crews will work Monday through Friday from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm. · China Lake Water Main Replacement – On State Route 178 E between N. Brady Street and N. Victor Street, the westbound outside lane is closed while crews replace a water main Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 6:00 am to 4:00 pm. The outside lane will reopen after work hours and the shoulder will close at night.
Inyo County
· Olancha-Cartago State Route 190 Connector – The State Route 190 connector within the Olancha-Cartago 4-Lane Expressway Project is now open to the traveling public near Grant. This is the third of three new connectors that link the new lanes of U.S. 395 with the existing pavement of old U.S. 395 through Grant, Olancha, and Cartago. Drivers are advised to follow the directions posted on highway signs. The speed limit is reduced to 55 mph through the project area. · Olancha Shoulder Closures – On U.S. 395 at the junction with State Route 190 in Olancha, there will be intermittent shoulder closures to allow trucks access to deliver material Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm. · Death Valley Flood Damage Repair – On State Route 190 in Death Valley National Park crews will pause work on flood damage repairs until after the holidays. Work is scheduled to resume Monday, January 6 near the Inn at Furnace Creek.
Travelers are asked to be attentive to workers on the highway, slow for the cone zone, and move over whenever possible to give additional clearance. Be Safe and Be Work Zone Alert!
