It is with heavy hearts we announce on July 15th, 2024, our dear Mary Lou peacefully entered her restful sleep surrounded by family.

Mary Louise Aukee (Menesez) was born on November 16th, 1938, to Patricia and Frank Menesez in Los Angeles, California, the second eldest of eight.

Mary Lou spent her early years in Pomona, California, until 1952 when her family’s car broke down during a trip to Yosemite, leading them to settle in Bishop, California, captivated by its beauty.

Mary Lou started her first job counting and packing worms for Dorothy Vaughn on the banks of Bishop Creek. Even as a young girl, Mary Lou had a love and appreciation for all creatures big and small. She graduated from Bishop Union High School in 1958.

Following high school, Mary Lou briefly moved back to Pomona to study art but returned to Bishop, drawn by her love for the mountains. She started work at the Sport Shop for Mammoth Mountain, offering haircuts to employees on the side. One night while doing hair, a ski patrolman named Daryl, nicknamed “Animal,” came in needing a trim; the rest was history. They had their first date at Convict Lake and were married soon after in 1962. They started their family with their first son, Christian, born in 1963, followed by Jeffrey in 1965, Daniel in 1967, and Marc in 1969.

“Buster” Walter Harold Yahn 1936-2023

Buster Yahn, 87, of Vista, CA passed away peacefully on August 11, 2023 surrounded by his three loving sons and wife Connie.
Buster was born April 1, 1936 in Los Angeles, CA. He grew up and graduated Lone Pine High School. After High School he joined the US Air Force as a gunner in the B-36 and B-52 aircraft’s. He left the US Air Force to attend college at Orange Coast College, where he met his wife and mother of his three sons Barbara J. Yahn. Buster and Barbara went on to California State University of Long Beach where he graduated with a B.S. in Engineering. Buster went to work in the Aerospace industry with Rockwell International where he was instrumental in the design of the Apollo 11 ignition system as a Cryogenics Engineer.

Trudy Lynn Richards passed away peacefully in her sleep on the morning of June 25, 2024, in her hometown of Bishop, CA, where she was surrounded by the love and comfort of her family and friends.

Trudy was born November 29, 1956, to Marian and Eldred Richards. Before settling down in her home of Bishop, CA, Trudy was a long time resident of Carson City, NV, where she worked in the Department of Motor Vehicles for over 20 years, a veteran employee. Trudy was a closet musician, playing the piano, saxophone, and even drums when the opportunity presented itself, truly a woman of many talents. She was often found either wandering her garden or at her other favorite hangout, the casino, lighting the place up with her glowing smile and radiating positivity. She was a skilled hand gamer, and even a world traveler, traveling to Australia with her family in 2003.

Lieselotte Babette Lamia (Cisek), “Lisa or Liesel”, of Minnetonka, Minnesota passed away on June 14, 2023. Liesel was born on May 4, 1947 in Zell, Bavaria, Germany.

She was raised by her grandmother in a small Bavarian village until the age of 12 when she moved to the United States with her father, a member United States Air Force. Armed with a German-English dictionary, she learned the language quickly, well enough to win a spelling bee shortly after arriving. Living in Florida, Texas, and eventually near Edwards Air Force Base where her father was stationed. She married Vincent R. Lamia III in 1967 while living in the Antelope Valley and eventually the Owens Valley.
