That’s Great! What if I want to fly somewhere, given that as an Inyo taxpayer I am now subsidizing theses flights!
Better than what we had before, which was no flights at all.
At first , I mistakenly assumed that the mention of Hawthorne , was the one in Nevada , being how it’s only a short hop from Mammoth . They DO have an airport too , and used to have an airline that shuttled Gamblers from Long Beach until one of their flights crashed head-on into the Sierra near Mt. Whitney .

The Nevada-Hawthorn airport, the same where pilot Steve Fossett took off from, went missing and the plane found months later crashed up by Mammoth Lakes and the Miniret’s back years ago..
Steve Fossett took off from Baron Hilton’s private airfield at the Flying M Ranch , and I believe that the plane was owned by Hilton . When he died , (Hilton) , he gifted his ranch to the State of Nevada . (Paris got nothing)
You want to go to Hawthorne? Pack your bags. I’ll pay for your ticket. One way.
Apparently Confused,
As an Inyo resident you may want to learn the county boundary lines.
They’ll be flying in and out of Bishop if the weather is bad. Look it up, Inyo is subsidizing Bishop Airport. Also have been paying the “tourism tax” any time I buy anything in Mammoth.
So you voluntarily pay the tax and then complain how they spend it?
If there was just some way to stop Mammoth from getting that tax in the first place.
You can fly somewhere. You can fly to Hawthorne or Carlsbad.
Are you implying that by paying taxes you should have private service to your destination of choosing? That’s not how airports work. Or taxes.
