Owens River Gorge CLOSED to Public Access for Riparian Flow 6/6-6/25

CLOSED FROM JUNE 6-25, 2023

Inyo County, CA (May 23, 2023) – Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) will release higher-than-normal water down the Owens River Gorge from June 6 to June 25, 2023, in cooperation with the California Department of Fish and Wildlife and Mono County. The required three-week riparian flow will help improve fishery and wildlife habitat along the 10-mile stretch of river between the Upper Gorge Power Plant and Pleasant Valley Reservoir.

No public access will be allowed within the Owens River Gorge from Long Valley Dam to the Control Gorge Power Plant during the three-week high flow. The public is advised to avoid the area due to hazardous conditions. Please take all warning signs and barricades seriously. High water levels with strong currents pose potential safety hazards that could result in personal injury and property damage. LADWP personnel will monitor the area.
