Wildland firefighters respond to fires and disasters nationwide, operating specialized equipment in dynamic and complex environments, requiring a high level of fitness and commitment to safety. They work in a variety of positions including engine crews, fuels management, helitack crews, hotshot crews, dispatch, fire prevention, and smokejumping. These positions often travel throughout California and other regions of the country.

“We are looking to fill at least 20 vacant positions and backfilling others as we go through this hiring process on the Inyo National Forest,” said Fire Chief Larry Pingel. “We are encouraging interested candidates of all levels to apply.
