As part of the Southern Region, Inyo and Mono counties were set to go into Governor Gavin Newsom’s stay-at-home order as of 11:59 p.m. Sunday, December 6, according to CBS, Los Angeles.
“The order goes into effect Sunday night in order to be in place by Monday morning,” state Dr. Tom Boo, Mono County’s Public Health Officer. “In addition to more ICU patients there apparently were some corrections at the hospital level and the state decided to remove pediatric ICU beds which was, reportedly, the biggest reason for adjustment.”
Under the new effort to slow the spread of COVID-19, regions were to adhere to the most stringent orders when the available capacity of that region’s Intensive Care Units fell below 15-percent. The Southern Region hit 13.1-percent Saturday, down from 20.6-percent on Thursday, December 3. The order closes specific businesses and limits others.
The stay-at-home order will be in effect for three weeks.
According to Boo, in addition to the Southern California Region, the Central Valley and Bay Area regions also are facing the shut-down orders.

Is Mammoth Mountain still Open?
Earl, yes Mammoth Mountain is open.
You might want to give this article in the Los Angeles Times a read: At these California ski resorts, slopes are open, but what about lodging?
I suspect many of those with RV/Motorhomes will feel free to come up in them as well, especially considering the weather is quite nice. They are always so quick to pull the trigger on closing the campgrounds and forcing (well, not “forcing,” people don’t “have to” come up at all) into other areas of the forests.–Thanks
An interesting perspective (Johns Hopkins data):

Erik, very eye-opening. Thank you for sharing. Look for it on our news website.–SWM
So funny, all these people claiming they are “going to do as they please”,and not allow Gov. Newsom to take their “rights away “..
We all figured Mammoth Mountain would stay open…..money rules..
But what about when these L.A. travelers get there.
No motels to stay in.
No restaurants to eat in.
No bars to get drunk at night.
Spend your money getting to the slopes.
Send your money getting ON the slopes to ski.
And then sit around complaining with no place to stay, eat or get drunk.
Enjoy.
What about the Casino? Didn’t see it on the list
So we had a medical worker in Mammoth get a bad case of Covid , So how come nobody cares how many other Medical workers have covid. Has it gone wild at Mammoth hospital?
I think Eastern Oregon has the right idea – secede to Idaho, maybe Inyo and Mono should look into getting out of Kommiefornia ans joining Nevada…
Yeah, we all know there’s no such place as Eastern Ca. Bay area people like Newsom think the ‘High Sierra’ is So. Lk. Tahoe (also East Sierra and they don’t know that either). They also think everybody is flown to L.A. not Reno for emergency care. Not that it would make much difference, Reno is swamped too. It’s a shame that human life is so undervalued that we can’t have more than 2-3 staffed ICU beds per 10,000 people in this state (yup, I looked it up), country, and world. Well time for adult beverages. Later….
Time for the revolt!! Are the liberals finally ready to fight “the man”?? That’s what they did in the 60’s – why has everything change??
really !! this is BS !! this virus isn’t that bad !! Now, hang on a bit while I board my tax-payer-funded-helicopter-ride to Walter Reed Army Medical Center for medical treatment that nobody else in the country is getting for my runny little nose and diarrhea…..
It makes no sense to lump us in with the SoCal morons – they all are in the Purple and going downhill fast – we could have zero cases and 100% availability of ICU beds and still be ordered to lock down because they can’t or won’t listen….
I’ve lived in the area since 1979 so this is not rant about us vs. them. I do not know if people have already been transported out of the area or not but it won’t take much to overwhelm our 2 hospitals with very few options available. As for your second point I’ll give you 2 examples. 1) Two Brothers From Italy. 2) an establishment in Mammoth (food and drink) that 2 weeks ago had it’s 3rd. outbreak. The owner was anti mask and actually sent a letter to all of the employees blaming them because if they hadn’t gotten tested it wouldn’t have become a problem. There’s plenty more examples that deep down it’s a nationwide problem with plenty of blame to go around.
The first death in Mammoth was transported to Renown; died alone, face-timing family members. At least back then transport out of the area was an option. It is NOT going to be an option now, where would they go that isn’t already overwhelmed ? I think it is safe to say that no outside ICU is going to ok a transfer when they have their own community to worry about. The attitude seems to be “just because a bunch of old people are dying, I can’t send my kid to school…” that’s an actual quote from a local idiot.
Eric, could you please let us know what restaurant in Mammoth just had its third outbreak? Thank you!
Outlaw, how prophetic
They’re certainly living up to their name. The owner sounds like a gifted leader (sarcasm). Thanks!
Another pizza joint I won’t be visiting from here on out. Thankfully there’s better pizza elsewhere anyway.
What it comes down to is peoples lives or the almighty dollar. Shut it down and save lives. We are all struggling financially. Let’s all be adults about this and be smart and safe and get through this.
Yes! Shut it down, shut it down, shut it down. Once in a lifetime opportunity for people like me with load of cash on the sidelines. Please shutdown your businesses so me and my banking friends can buy them for pennies on the dollar. We can’t guarantee we will keep your business names but we will rename them something similar just to rub it in your faces. Thanks for staying safe and closing down!
Does this include Mammoth mountain?
We’re uncertain. We’re looking into it. But don’t be surprised if, somehow, the mountain has some special kind of waiver. Whether they do or don’t won’t stop people from coming here. At least it hasn’t in the past, has it? We’ll let everyone know when we find out something.–SWM
Sure….the governor’s office says get out n enjoy the outdoors…go skiing or snowboarding…but the state agency where I work won’t let me come to work for the next three weeks because I am “nonessential personnel”. Hypocrisy at it’s finest
Harold, looks like they’re staying open.
