(Press Release: NOV 25, 2020) —Sent Letter to Gov. Newson questioning data on closing of restaurants.
“It is incredibly difficult to make sound public health policy without premising data,” said Senator Borgeas. “In light of LA County’s new data indicating restaurants account for 3.1% of their cases, and given most other counties such as Fresno, Tuolumne or Stanislaus don’t have such information available in this aggregated fashion, I am requesting the Governor’s Administration show us the data, methodology and findings that indicate the rate at which restaurants are responsible for increased transmissions. This is a reasonable request, as we all should be able to examine the justifications driving these consequential decisions.”
An excerpt from the letter reads: “Just as restaurants and businesses have worked hard to comply with your administration’s guidelines, it is incumbent upon the state to reciprocate their collaborative efforts.”
The letter also requests that Governor Newsom provide reasonable modifications for restaurants and other businesses, clarify new CAL-OSHA emergency measures, and for the state of California to explore a state-led paycheck protection relief program.

So true what you say.
Problem is,this day and age,many people “need” a politician to tell them what to think,what to say,what to do,how to feel about anything.
Almost like they’re unable to make decisions on their own.
Whoever doubts that,look at this past election, over 73 MILLION people still voting for someone that’s turned this Country upside down.
And then,when he’s soundly defeated,still believing every word out of his mouth when he says,to this day,he “actually won by a landslide”,and sending him millions of dollars…to this day…as if somehow their “donations to help the cause” will turn the election.
Like I’ve always said,if it matters any,common sense will end this pandemic in time,not some politician sitting behind a desk ranting and raving,or another who seems to ignore his own guidelines he’s set for others to follow.
Time for everyone to stand on their own two feet ,use common sense and do the right thing without needing to be told what to do…..as if that would ever happen nowdays.
Why restaurants? I’d like to see the data on gyms…..actually I’d like to see all the data. Why aren’t they being more transparent? Personally, I think restaurants probably are spreading the disease and should be closed…but nothing wrong with asking to see the data. I feel restaurants are much more apt to spread the disease than gyms. In a gym everyone is wearing a mask and staying alone…..unlike people from unrelated groups that sit at the same table to eat, without masks.
Transparency is always a good thing!

Watching the news this afternoon,the Senate proposed a COVID relief package (before MCConnell goes off on his month long paid holiday vacation ) where it seems 99 % of the money he wants is to help out are the billion business that are suffering……again.
Really hard for Sen. Borgeas to understand how people sitting indoors, not wearing masks for an hour or so at a time, could transmit an airborne virus, eh?
The answer is not “let’s open restaurants and bars up and let them operate as they wish.” We need to limit indoor contacts and provide cash relief to those business owners and their employees or this winter is going to be deadly.

I think our gov deserves any barbs thrown his way for the conduct your referring to. However I don’t share the notion espoused by some that we should ignore pub health orders because our gov did something stupid. The virus is here and we’re the ones that have to deal with it. We can take practical precautions to help control the spread and eventually return to normal, or we can keep coming up with excuses to ignore those precautions and drag this thing out even longer.
Our governor’s careless behavior definitely showed poor leadership. But it’s really up to each of us, we can contribute towards the problem, or we can contribute towards the solution. I choose the latter.
