​Inyo County Public Health Declares End of 2025–2026 Influenza Season

​Inyo County, CA- Inyo County Public Health reports that influenza activity has declined to low levels across the county. Based on current surveillance data, the Inyo County Health Officer, Dr. Richardson, in collaboration with local healthcare partners, has declared the 2025–2026 influenza season officially concluded, effective immediately.

​Public Health extends its appreciation to healthcare providers, community partners, and residents for their efforts in reducing the spread of influenza this season. Continued vigilance and community cooperation remain essential to protecting public health.

​Key Points:

​Influenza activity is low and continuing to decrease at the local, state, and national levels. In Inyo County, activity is now below baseline thresholds.

​Other respiratory viruses continue to circulate in the community. COVID-19 remains present year-round and may continue into the summer months.

​Residents are encouraged to consult with their healthcare providers regarding ongoing prevention strategies for influenza and other respiratory illnesses.

​Prevention Recommendations:

​Inyo County Public Health encourages residents to continue practicing everyday preventive measures, including:

​Avoiding close contact with individuals who are ill

​Staying home when sick and encouraging others to do the same

​Washing hands frequently with soap and water or using alcohol-based hand sanitizer

​Routinely cleaning frequently touched and shared surfaces

​Influenza activity across California is currently low and trending downward

​The 2025–2026 influenza season is classified as moderate in severity, with peak activity occurring earlier in the season

​Predominant circulating strains included Influenza A (H1N1)pdm09 and A(H3N2)

​Influenza-related hospitalizations and deaths have declined and are now at expected low levels for this

​Annual vaccination remains the most effective method for preventing severe illness and complications from influenza
