Inyo County Press Release e1597558846665 Business opportunities in the fast-growing climate innovations industries will be the topic of discussion during an upcoming summit being hosted by the Eastern Sierra Small Business Resource Center (BRC) and Cerro Coso Community College.

The Eastern Sierra Entrepreneur Regional Summit for Climate Innovation and Business Opportunities will be held on Tuesday, May 31, 2022 from 4-6 p.m. at Cerro Coso’s Bishop campus, 4090 W. Line St.

Offered free of charge, the event is open to anyone interested in learning about opportunities for business and entrepreneurship related to climate change and innovation, natural resource management, and fire mitigation projects.

Event attendees can expect a panel discussion from informed leaders and funding agencies in the climate innovations sectors, trade show exhibits from exhibitors such as the Sierra Nevada Conservancy, as well as opportunities to network with funders and technical assistance providers.

A networking reception with food and drinks will be included with free registration.

“This will be an amazing opportunity for existing businesses and those thinking of starting a business to learn about opportunities to profit from many climate-related projects in our region,” said Bishop Area Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Bureau Executive Director Tawni Thomson. “The Bishop Chamber of Commerce highly encourages your attendance.”

The Eastern Sierra Climate Innovations Cluster and natural resources are the cornerstones of the regional economy. According to event organizers, while historically, local businesses and local workforce in the Eastern Sierra gateway communities have focused on the tourism industry as an economic driver, recent investment and growth in landscape-scale climate innovations projects at the State and Federal level have created a blossoming climate innovations industry sector with the possibility of creating an enormous number of high-quality local jobs. This event aims to bring together all stakeholders in the climate innovation sector to promote existing projects and highlight opportunities for entrepreneurs and businesses in the region.

“State and federal governments are investing unprecedented funding towards climate resiliency projects, and the Eastern Sierra is positioned to be a leader in pioneering strategies that build more resilient communities, diversify economic opportunities, and strengthen our quality of life,” said Eastern Sierra Council of Governments (ESCOG) Administrative Services Contractor Elaine Kabala. “The Entrepreneurs Summit will help businesses and entrepreneurs prepare for these opportunities.”
