San Bernardino – The current suspension for residential landscape debris burning in state responsibility area lands in San Bernardino, Inyo, and Mono counties will remain in effect. The current fire danger in most of Southern California remains at moderate to high risk due to warm, dry weather conditions and lack of rainfall.
We remain actively engaged in the second year of historic fire seasons in California with a total of 8,536 fires burning 2,569,766 acres through November 26, 2021.
After local fuel moisture testing results received yesterday, the levels remain critically dry. It is anticipated that this suspension will remain in effect until we receive measurable precipitation. We will continue to conduct fuel moisture samples and reevaluate as conditions change.
The suspension of burn permits for residential landscape debris does not apply to campfires within organized campgrounds or on private property. Campfires may be permitted if the campfire is maintained in such a manner as to prevent its spread to the wildland. A campfire permit and information on how you can prevent wildfires can be obtained online at www.readyforwildfire.org.
