Shortly after 3:00AM on Saturday morning Sheriff’s Dispatch was notified of a house fire on North Barlow Lane in Bishop. Several agencies responded including Bishop Police Department, Bishop Fire, Tribal Police, and Inyo Sheriff’s Office. After the fire was extinguished an 11-year old boy was found to be deceased inside the home.
At this time the fire appears to be accidental in nature, but an arson investigator was requested by the Bishop Fire Department to determine the cause and origin of the fire. As more information becomes available it will be released.

A memorial fund has been set up in the memory Matthew Hanson at Chase Bank in Bishop. Ivan lost his dearly loved son, a joy to many of us. He also lost his home, car and all of his belongings. Please help if you can.
