| SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Senator Marie Alvarado-Gil (R-Jackson) is proud to announce the Be Anything Museum of Modesto as Senate District 4’s 2026 Nonprofit of the Year. This year’s recognition highlights nonprofits that help individuals, families, and communities navigate grief, hardship, and change while turning those experiences into lasting positive impact.
The Be Anything Museum stood out for its commitment to empowerment, inspiration, and transforming loss into legacy in Modesto and across the Central Valley.
“Transforming loss into legacy isn’t just a theme, it’s about real organizations stepping up to heal communities and inspire the next generation,” said Senator Alvarado-Gil. “The Be Anything Museum has shown what it means to turn grief into possibility through its exhibits, storytelling, and programs.”
Lourdes Uranday (pictured above with Senator Alvarado-Gil), Executive Director and Founder of the Be Anything Museum, responded to the announcement with the following statement:
“We are deeply honored by this recognition. At the Be Anything Museum, we believe representation and opportunity can change lives. This award affirms our commitment to creating spaces where people feel seen, supported, and empowered to pursue their dreams.”
The Be Anything Museum embodies the 2026 theme, “Transforming Loss into Legacy,” by turning personal and collective grief into inspiration, education, and healing.
Through its large permanent Barbie collection, Modesto’s and Northern California’s largest, interactive “Icons of Change” exhibits honoring trailblazing women, and Business Resource Center offering workshops and mentorship, the museum encourages visitors of all ages to dream boldly and embrace the message: “You Can Be Anything.” |
