MLF press release
Mammoth Lakes, Calif. – Dave McCoy turns 102 years old on Thursday, August 24. To commemorate this incredible milestone, and to secure his legacy for the future, the Mammoth Lakes Foundation invites the public to join in a $102 for 102 campaign.
We all know Dave McCoy is one of the pioneers of the American Ski Industry and is highly regarded for his accomplishments in skiing. Arguably, just as important as his ski industry accomplishments is his immense contributions to the Eastern Sierra with regards to education and the arts.
Mammoth Lakes Foundation continues Dave’s legacy by building a better community. MLF was established by McCoy (and friends) in 1989 and offers free college education (books and tuition) to any Mono County high school graduate or resident pursing an AA degree from Cerro Coso Community College.
Dave and MLF have changed the landscape of higher education in Mammoth by making college and skill acquisition affordable, improving student’s lives, and making Mammoth a great place to live, work, and learn.
In addition, MLF provides year-round theatre programming through the Mammoth Lakes Repertory Theatre, an annual independent film festival, Mammoth Lakes Film Festival, and is currently working to build a new performing arts center in Mammoth.
Show Dave McCoy some love, secure his legacy through the Mammoth Lakes Foundation, and wish him the happiest of birthdays with a donation of $102. After all, giving back is the greatest gift of them all.
