Press release
For the ninth consecutive year, Disabled Sports Eastern Sierra (DSES) and Mammoth Mountain Ski Area (MMSA) will host Wounded Warriors Operation Mountain Freedom from February 1 – 5, one of two annual Wounded Warrior specific events.
Disabled Sports Eastern Sierra expects to have over 40 participants including veterans, active duty, injured, ill or wounded service men and women, spouses and staff from all across the country.
These participants have opportunities to enjoy adaptive winter sports such as alpine skiing, Nordic skiing, snowboarding and more! The athletes are invited to bring a guest to share in this therapeutic recreational event.
Mammoth Mountain Ski Area’s Mountainside Conference Center serves as our base of operations for the week.
It is with the wonderful support and involvement of the community that DSES is able to provide this great event.
DSES is grateful to have ML Fire Department, The Curry Group, Burgers Restaurant, The Westin Monache Resort, The Good Life Café, The Breakfast Club, Toomey’s, Eastern Sierra Transit Authority and most generously, Mammoth Mountain Ski Area supporting Operation Mountain Freedom.
On Thursday, February 4, the public is invited to be part of the Arch of Honor. Line up will be at 8:45am at the Panorama Gondola building at the Main Lodge. Bring your ski poles!

DSES is the best! Any support locals can give them, please do. We are very lucky to have them here in Mono County!
