Business Snip-Its
By Asa Davis
Welcome to Business Snip-its, with Asa Davis. Today we’re talking about Astorga’s.
That’s right, the family-owned business that produces the delicious meals we all know and love. But how did these family recipes come about? When did this awesome restaurant start and why? The answers are all found here. Back in 2001, Lee and Ramona Astorga opened a small restaurant in the Bishop Plaza outlet on the north side of town. They ran a successful business for ten years in that location. Their five kids would join in once in a while to help out doing dishes and busing tables. In 2011, Lee and Ramona decided they were ready to retire and the lease of the building was up at Bishop Plaza. All the kids were in support of closing, but then a property was offered to them and they decided to keep Astorga’s running. The kids saw potential in the new place and took over the business more and more as the years went by.
Starting with just the 5 kids and growing to their kids now joining in creating a three-generation family workforce. It truly had become a full-fledged family business. They have enjoyed the new property and serving customers both local and traveling. Recently they started making renovations to the property including a bar and lounge area. Along with doing multiple fundraisers throughout the community and always looking forward to doing more. They would also like to thank the community for their support in creating and sustaining their business. So now you know a snip-it of the history of your favorite Mexican restaurant, Astorga’s!
