Forecast Discussion – Fri Aug 23 2024

The previously mentioned Alaskan trough moves along the CA / OR border today, with its surface cold front dropping down into NORCAL and our area into Saturday. Temperatures then continue to take a nice turn downwards. So Saturday’s highs in Bishop will be 83°, Mammoth Lakes 56°, and Death Valley only 105°. Precipitation (snow) chances (did I say snow!) with this system range from 20% in Mono County to about 50% in Lassen County tonight into Saturday. Severe weather is not anticipated, but Tioga Pass, Yosemite and Tahoe might see a dusting of new snow, with Mammoth Mountain picking up trace amounts by early Saturday. By Sunday a more zonal flow sets up, with a ridge starting to build in for warming temperatures. Have a “Great Go DO It” weekend…DMATT

Your Temperatures Today:
