Mammoth Mountain ski area is officially scheduled to open on November 13th, but with an incoming storm reported to be packing some moisture, there have been rumors of an early opening at the resort.

Naturally it all depends on what the weather does, but if the weather drops the snow this weekend Dan Hansen, spokesman for Mammoth Mountain says that staff is ready to get the lifts running early if conditions allow.

Its too early to tell, and forecaster have called for a high snow level, but if enough early season snow arrives, Hansen reports that its possible that the resort could open Monday at the earliest.

To watch for an early opener, Mammoth Mountain has a new website up and running at mammothmountain.com . 1 888 SNOW RPT will work as well, Hansen explained.
