Vincent Robert “Bob” Lamia III
1934-2023
Vincent Robert Lamia III, “Bob”, of Big Pine, California passed away peacefully surrounded by family while overlooking the Sierra Nevada Mountains he loved on February 6, 2023.
Bob was born on January 10, 1934 in Santa Monica, California. He grew up in Pacific Palisades and could be found adventuring along the beach from Malibu to the Santa Monica Pier until at the age of 15 when he found his way to the Eastern Sierra where he pursued his love of camping, hunting, fishing, and hiking.
He enlisted in the Air Force during the Korean War, and when his military service was complete, he returned to the Eastern Sierra where he worked for the Los Angeles Department of Water & Power as an aqueduct keeper until his retirement.
He enjoyed spending time fishing in Baja Mexico, visiting family in Minnesota, and working in his garden. He was a perennial exhibitor at the Tri- County Fair with his preserves, fruits, vegetables, and baked goods. He was a Life Member of the Big Pine American Legion Post 457.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents Vincent Robert Lamia II and Maureen Sall and sisters Kathleen and Maureen. Bob is survived by his children James of Big Pine, Christina Anderson and husband Richard and her children Vincent Lamia and Lindsey Anderson of New Hope, Minnesota; brother Tom Lamia of South Bristol, Maine; and his beloved cat, Delilah.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, June 24, at 10:00 a.m., at the Big Pine Cemetery, 600 West Crocker, followed by a celebration of life luncheon immediately following graveside services at the Big Pine Town Hall, 150 Dewey Street.
In lieu of flowers, you may make a donation to community organizations that meant a lot to him. The Big Pine Fire Department (PO Box 382) or the Big Pine American Legion Auxiliary Glacier Unit 457 (PO Box 675) both in Big Pine, CA 93513.
