On September 17th, at about 6:20AM, Inyo County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to the Coso Junction Chevron Station for a dispute between the store clerk and a male subject (later identified as Erik Nelson, a 38 year old man from Lake Havasu, AZ). Nelson left the store prior to the Deputies’ arrival.
The responding Deputies located Nelson in a tan Ford Ranger parked on the southbound shoulder of Highway 395 approximately a half mile north of the Coso Junction Rest Area. A record check of the license plate indicated that the vehicle had been reported stolen out of Bullhead City AZ. Nelson was arrested, was taken into custody without incident, and booked into the Inyo County Jail under the following charges: felony vehicle theft, and possession of stolen property. Bail is set at $10,000.
