Mathletes Keep the Wins Coming
Despite the strong competition, BUHS Mathletes once again come out on top with a winning 26 points! This was the closest competition yet as Boron crept close behind with a second place score of 24 points and Rosamond followed in third with 23 points. These teams’ incredible scores were still unable to beat Bishop as we conquered for the second time in a row.
Mathletes individual scores were amazing with two of them, Caleb Fitt and Bryce Cokeley, tying for third place overall by scoring seven points. Other Mathletes followed close behind with Granite Puhvel in fifth scoring 5 points and Sydney Wilson, Josef Borow, Kano Graves, Donovan Mondragon, and Ben Rowan scoring just below that. Other mathletes that participated in the competition and kept consistent with their scores were Taylor Currie, Ellary Davis, Sienna Pope, Sydney Garcia, Adan Perez, Blake Jahn, and Tyler Norcross.
This was the most challenging and difficult competition yet, with menacing problems like:
Let f(x) = \sqrt{32 – 4x} and g(x) = x^4 – 4x. Find (f \circ g)(-1)
When asked about this competition, Varsity Mathlete Taylor Currie responded “The questions were hard, but we locked in and got to have Thai food!” Great job Bishop Matheletes, we can’t wait to see what happens at the next Meet in Rosamond.
