mammoth_airportStarting this winter, San Francisco will be just one hour away. United Airlines is now selling tickets between San Francisco and the Mammoth Yosemite Airport.

Horizon Air has offered commercial flights to Mammoth Lakes for the past two winters. Starting December 16th, a second airline will add flight options to the region.

Air service started with the strong market of customers in southern California. Like last year, Horizon will offer two flights a day between LAX and Mammoth. Horizon also connected to San Jose last winter, tapping the Northern California market that by tradition heads to Tahoe for winter fun. The San Jose flight continues once again this year, but northern California residents can now choose to fly out of San Francisco.

United plans to fly one round trip flight a day that leaves San Francisco at 3:50 pm and arrives at the Mammoth airport at 4:56 pm. The 66 passenger jets are United Express Flights, operated by SkyWest Airlines. Officials with United say the roundtrip tickets start at $188.

Town Manager Rob Clark says Were very excited, and adds that with many connection possibilities, San Francisco is a great addition. This winter service by United starts December 16. Along with the Horizon flights, the Mammoth Yosemite Airport will have four commercial flights a day this winter.
