U.S. 395 to Close for

Emergency Infrastructure Damage Repairs

INYO COUNTY – Caltrans will close U.S. 395 from Cartago (20 miles south of the junction with SR 136) to the Junction with SR 190 in Olancha, 24-hours a day, Monday, May 1 through Friday, May 5. A detour will be available for through traffic on U.S. 395 using State Route 136 out of Lone Pine and State Route 190 out of Olancha. This detour will add approximately 11 miles of travel. Flaggers will be posted at both junctions 24-hours a day to redirect traffic.

Crews from Fisher Sand & Gravel will make emergency repairs to state highway drainage infrastructure that was damaged by the recent series of winter storms in anticipation of substantial spring run-off from the unprecedented, record-breaking, southern Sierra Nevada snowpack.

Caltrans is coordinating with Inyo County and Los Angeles Department of Water and Power to plan for roadway impacts throughout the county from the anticipated spring run-off.

Work schedules are subject to change due to traffic incidents, weather, availability of equipment and/or materials, and/or construction-related issues.
