Sunday morning two young Bishop residents were arrested after a drunk driving incident near Lower Rock Creek Road.

Sunday morning at about 8:00 am, CHP officers responded to Lower Rock Creek Road, south of Toms Place for a report of a single vehicle rollover that may have involved two males who may have been drinking alcohol. Officers report that the juvenile driver, a 17-year-old male, was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol shortly after the Highway Patrol arrived on scene.

Officers say that a second person, 18-year-old Logan Eastwood of Bishop, disobeyed a lawful order and ran away. During the accident investigation, officers discovered that the 1994 Jeep had been reported stolen out of Swall Meadows. Officers were also able to find Eastwood. Both young men were arrested and taken to the Mono County jail in Bridgeport.

The Jeep was returned to its owner.

On Saturday, Highway Patrol officers responded to the kind of accident they often see on 395. A man from out of the area headed south on 395 near Poverty Hills veered off the highway, over corrected twice and lost control.

Officers said the man rolled his vehicle at least once. He was able to get out of the car. A passerby stopped and called for help. Big Pine Volunteers responded, checked the man out and found he was not injured. Independence Fire also responded.

The CHP recommends that if you do veer off the highway, its best to slowly guide your vehicle back on to the pavement without jerking the wheel to one side or the other.
