Traffic and Business Impacts of Lee Vining Rehabilitation Project to be Discussed in September

LEE VINING — Caltrans will present an update on the Lee Vining Rehabilitation Project at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, September 11, at the Lee Vining Community Center, 296 Mattly Ave. Local residents and business owners are invited to attend the meeting and receive the latest information on how the $20 million project will affect local traffic and business.

This pavement rehabilitation project will improve a 9.2-mile portion of U.S. 395 from just south of State Route 120 to just north of Picnic Grounds Road. Crews will also repair and construct drainage systems, sidewalks, curb ramps, driveways, and street lighting. Landscaping will also be improved within the project area.

The Lee Vining Rehabilitation Project is currently in the design phase. At the meeting, representatives from the project management team will present the project timeline, project scope, changes to street parking within Lee Vining city limits and any potential disruptions to local business traffic. The project team will also discuss providing new facilities for bicyclists and pedestrians.

The project is expected to break ground in Spring 2026 and consume 110 construction days of work.

Those who wish to attend the presentation with sensory disabilities requiring alternate formats (i.e., Braille, large print, sign language interpreter, etc.) and those needing information in a language other than English are asked to contact Bob Gossman at (760) 881-7145 or TTY 711 prior to the meeting so reasonable accommodations can be provided.
