Traffic Advisory for the Week of March 3, 2025
EASTERN KERN, INYO, and MONO COUNTIES – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) announces the following project work and traffic impacts for the week of March 3 – March 7.
Work schedules are subject to change due to traffic incidents, weather, availability of equipment and/or materials, and/or construction-related issues.
New Traffic Impacts
Eastern Kern County
• Inyokern Utility Work – On State Route 178 E between Pony Street and Herbert Street, the eastbound shoulder will close while utility crews install fiber optic cable Monday and Tuesday from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm.
Inyo County
• North Inyo Crack Sealing – On U.S. 395 between Ed Powers Road and Mill Creek Road, maintenance crews will crack seal the northbound lanes of the highway. Drivers will encounter alternating lane closures Monday through Wednesday between 7:00 am and 4:00 pm and may experience brief delays.
• West Bishop Utility Work – On State Route 168 W (W. Line Street) between Brockman Lane and Pa Me Lane, there will be intermittent traffic breaks to allow utility crews to cross wire over the road on Friday from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. Drivers may experience brief delays.
Mono County
• Bridgeport Banner Change – The town of Bridgeport will replace its banner over U.S. 395 on Tuesday between 6:00 am and noon. Drivers in both directions may encounter temporary traffic breaks.
• Benton Utility Work – On U.S. 6 between Pedro Ranch Road and State Route 120 E, the southbound shoulder will close while utility crews replace structures on Thursday from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm.
Ongoing Traffic Impacts
Eastern Kern County
• 23/24 Pedestrian Safety Improvements Project – On State Route 178 E at various locations between Norma Street and Richmond Road, crews will modify traffic signals and lighting systems. Work is scheduled overnight Monday through Thursday from 10:00 pm to 6:00 am. One lane will close in both directions and drivers may experience brief delays.
• Kern County Sign Replacement Project – Crews will replace traffic signs on State Route 58 near 25th Street, east of exit 172. Work is scheduled Monday through Friday from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm. There will be intermittent shoulder closures.
Inyo County
• Olancha-Cartago 4-Lane Project – Construction continues on the Olancha-Cartago 4-Lane Expressway Project. Northbound drivers will encounter two traffic switches on the new lanes of U.S. 395 and traffic is limited to one lane in each direction through the northern half of the project area. The speed limit is reduced to 55 mph through the project area and 45 mph through the two traffic switches.
Travelers are asked to be attentive to workers on the highway, slow for the cone zone, and move over whenever possible to give additional clearance. Be Safe and Be Work Zone Alert!
