Traffic Advisory for the Week of April 28, 2025
EASTERN KERN, INYO, and MONO COUNTIES – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) announces the following project work and traffic impacts for the week of April 28 – May 2.
Work schedules are subject to change due to traffic incidents, weather, availability of equipment and/or materials, and/or construction-related issues.
New Traffic Impacts
Eastern Kern County
· State Route 58 Guardrail Repair – Crews will repair guardrail in the following locations on State Route 58 near Tehachapi:
· On the eastbound lanes about 3 miles west of State Route 202 (Tucker Road)
· On the eastbound lanes between Broome Road and Woodford-Tehachapi
The outside lane and shoulder will close while crews work Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm. Drivers may experience brief delays.
· Tucker Road Utility Work – On State Route 202 (Tucker Road) from Lonely Lane to Tucker Road, utility crews will install equipment on poles on Monday from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm. There will be one-way traffic control and drivers may experience 10-minute delays.
Inyo County
· Buttermilk Road Utility Work – On State Route 168 W between Buttermilk Road and one mile east, utility crews will deliver materials outside the state boundaries Monday through Thursday from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm. There will be one-way traffic control and drivers may experience 10-minute delays.
· North Sierra Highway Utility Work – On U.S. 395 from Matlick Lane to Early Pond Lane in Bishop, utility crews will relocate structures on Wednesday from 7:30 am to 4:30 pm. There will be intermittent traffic breaks and drivers may experience brief delays.
· Lone Pine Tree Trimming – On U.S. 395 from the Lone Pine Airport to Burkhart Road, the southbound outside lane and shoulder will close while crews trim trees on Thursday from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm.
Mono County
· Rock Creek Drainage Work – On U.S. 395 between Lower Rock Creek Road and South Landing Road near Crowley, the shoulders will close to allow for drainage work Monday through Friday from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm.
· Point Ranch Utility Work – On U.S. 395 near Point Ranch Road south of Bridgeport, utility crews will replace poles Wednesday and Friday from 7:00 am to 5:00. There will be one-way traffic control and drivers may experience 20-minute delays.
Ongoing Traffic Impacts
Inyo County
· Olancha-Cartago 4-Lane Project – Construction continues on the Olancha-Cartago 4-Lane Expressway Project. Northbound drivers will encounter two traffic switches on the new lanes of U.S. 395 and traffic remains limited to one lane in each direction through the northern half of the project area. The speed limit is reduced to 55 mph through the project area and 45 mph through the two traffic switches.
The Olancha Cartago 4-Lane Project received $38.3 million from the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act of 2021 (IIJA) – also known as the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. Under IIJA, California will receive an estimated $41.9 billion over five years. IIJA provides significant funding to rebuild California’s transportation system, including support to improve roadways, bridges, freight projects, public transportation, infrastructure safety enhancements, and to increase infrastructure resiliency to the impacts of severe weather and climate change.
