Mammoth Lakes, CA – Artistic Director Shira Dubrovner announced that MLRT and Mountain Culture Month are hosting Todd Offenbacher on Wednesday March 6th at Edison Theatre. An adventurer, TV host, and mountain guide hailing fromTahoe, Todd Offenbacher is the director of the Sierra Avalanche Center and founder/host of the Tahoe Adventure Film Festival (coming to the Edison Theatre March 9th). A talented raconteur and daring adventurer, Todd Offenbacher will present Bi-Polar Ski Adventures, a comedic multi-media presentation with video from his recent travels to Artic Svalbard and Antarctica in the past year. His images and videos from summit to sea will inspire, and his sense of humor will make the crustiest of mountain curmudgeons laugh.

“We’re proud to have Todd speak at the beginning of our series,” Webb stated, “He’s traveled through some of the most remote corners of the globe and is such a strong storyteller he can crack jokes about them. That’s Mountain Culture at its finest.”

The Arctic Svalbard and Antarctica are some of the most extreme places on the planet. Antarctica is Earth’s cold, desolate, and undeniably beautiful southern extreme – Svalbard, on the other hand, is one of the last northern outposts of human civilization, a small island between mainland Norway and the North Pole – and Todd Offenbacher has traveled between these two geographic extremes.

An outdoor adventure enthusiast, Todd has toured the world chasing peaks to climb and ski, founded the Tahoe Adventure Film Festival, and currently serves as president of the Sierra Avalanche Center, helping to keep fellow adventurers safe in the greater Tahoe area. If you want to know what kind of person Todd is, look no further than the Festival Host section of theTahoe Adventure Film Festival Website. It tells his life story in year-by-year snapshots, and includes such gems as: “1981 – Runner up Teenage Mr. America. Atlanta, GA (blue Speedo-thanks for asking)” and “2007 – Sweated like the guy in Midnight Express while climbing in Thailand. First year Tahoe Adventure Film Festival sold out largest showroom in Tahoe.”

For those who have seen Todd speak at past events, don’t worry about a repeat performance: BI-POLAR SKI ADVENTURES is an all-new presentation based on his adventures in the last year. Please join Mammoth Lakes Repertory Theatre at Edison Theatre next Wednesday, March 6th at 7pm for this educational and inspirational series. Ticketing, information and details at MammothLakesRepertoryTheatre.org.

Todd Offenbacher is available for interviews most days of the week around 7 AM or 4:30 PM. Please contact Trevor Van Winkle to coordinate inquiries.

South Lake Tahoe, California – Marking sixteen years of adventure sports cinematography and culture, Tahoe Adventure Film Festival (TAFF) is the annual gathering with the outdoor adventure community, animated with music, go-go dancers, wild entertainers, and dramatic action imagery. All before the films begin. It’s where the industry’s best filmmakers premier their latest adventure sports films one night only hosted by festival creator and adventurer, Todd Offenbacher. “We select the films, not judge them. Then our community comes together to honor what these film represent”. It’s tongue in cheek humor, combined with a celebration of our unique South Lake Tahoelifestyle and culture,” says Offenbacher.

TAFF inspires the adventure sports community with newly released films of daring exploits and epic adventures in some of the most remote places and harshest conditions that test the human spirit. Filmmakers capture the power and intensity of skiing, snowboarding, kayaking, rock climbing, surfing, mountain biking, BASE jumping and other heart pounding sports that feed our addiction to adventure.  Some segments are special edits including previews of films that have not been released.

The sixteenth annual coveted Golden Camalot award will be a surprise again this year. “We will reward a hero in our local community” says Offenbacher. We originally created the award to honor action and adventure sports pioneers for their astounding contributions, excellence, achievements, and leadership. “Just like the festival, the award’s scope continues to evolve.” Past recipients include Royal Robbins, Tommy Caldwell, Glen Plake, Fred Beckey, Jeremy Jones, Alex Honnold, Steve Wampler, Hatchett Brothers, Corey Rich, Doug Stoup, Robb Gaffney, Chris McNamerra, Chris Davenport, and Jamie Anderson.

Offenbacher, TAFF founder and host of Outside Television, is part of this elite group of explorers. He guides remote ski mountaineering trips to Svalbard, Norway, and Antarctica annually. The festival is an extension of Todd’s passion for life and adventure. Offenbacher has climbed first ascents around the globe including Pakistan, Tibet, Thailand, and Peru. “I’ve traveled the planet to ski, climb, and explore. I have immersed myself in so many others cultures,” says Offenbacher. “ There no better way to open our eyes to the real world around us.”

The 2018 Tahoe Adventure Film Festival debuted at its birthplace in South Lake Tahoe, on Saturday, December 8, 2018 at MontBleu Resort Casino. Starting in January 2019, Offenbacher takes his show on the road to Petaluma, Park City, Mammoth, Reno, and Minden to ordain new converts to a life filled with adventure. Mammoth Lakes Repertory Theatre will host the 2018 Festival at Edison Theatre on Saturday, March 9 at 5:30 and 7 p.m.
