MEDIA RELEASE
November 07,2024
The 2024 Eastern Sierra Shop with a Cop event is coming soon.
This event is designed to help give area students and their families in need a joyous Holiday Season. We have worked with our local school staff and School Resource Officer, as well as the School Resource Officers from the Mammoth Lakes Police Department and the Mono County Sheriff’s Department to identify and invite 50 area students from Inyo and Mono counties to participate in this year’s event, to be held on December 14, 2024.
Each participant is provided with the opportunity to complete a shopping list of gifts for their family. As the items are received, they will be sorted and gift-wrapped by volunteers. On the day of the event, each participant will be picked up at their home by their assigned Law Enforcement Partner and driven to the Eastern Sierra Tri-County Fairgrounds, where the Bishop Lions Club will be cooking up their famous pancake breakfast. After breakfast, we will all line up for our annual ‘Code 3’ ride down Bishop’s Main Street and return to the Fairgrounds for a Christmas party full of games, raffles, activities, and a special visit from Santa before distributing gifts.
Law Enforcement agencies from Inyo and Mono counties participate in this event and include the Mono County Sheriff’s Department, CHP – Bridgeport office, Mono County Probation Department, Mammoth Lakes Police Department, California Department of Fish and Wildlife, Bureau of Land Management, CAL FIRE San Bernardino Unit Law Enforcement, U.S. Forest Service, Inyo County Sheriff’s Department, Bishop Police Department, Bishop Paiute Tribal Police Department, Inyo County Probation Department and, CHP – Bishop Office.
Eastern Sierra Shop with a Cop is entirely donation-driven, and the continued support from the community, both near and far, each year is what makes this program the success it continues to be.
Donations are accepted at the Mono County Sheriff’s Office, Inyo County Sheriff’s Office, Bishop Police Department, and Mammoth Lakes Police Department, as well as the Bishop and Bridgeport Offices for the California Highway Patrol. Please make checks payable to ESPOA (Eastern Sierra Peace Officers Association) with “Shop-with-a Cop” written in the memo line. ESPOA is a 501(c)3, and your donation is tax-deductible.
