FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

State Route 203 Reopens Tomorrow

MAMMOTH LAKES ― Caltrans will reopen State Route 203 tomorrow, June 3, at 9:00 am. This is the final District 9 highway to reopen from its winter closure. SR 203 will open west of Mammoth Mountain from the ski resort to the end of the highway at Minaret Vista.

The road beyond the vista point is still subject to the Reds Meadow Road Reconstruction Project, which will impact access to Reds Meadow and Devils Postpile National Monument. For more information about the project and its 2025 schedule, visit: https://www.fs.usda.gov/r05/inyo/conditions/reds-meadow-road-reconstruction-project

For information on access to Minaret Vista Observation Site and other sites within the Inyo National Forest, visit: https://www.fs.usda.gov/r05/inyo/recreation

With the summer travel season here, now is the best time to download the Quickmap app to your iOS or Android device. The app gives users the latest information on highway conditions, including lane closures, road closures, and rest area availability. Before you hit the road this year, plan your trip with the Quickmap app or website at quickmap.dot.ca.gov. You can also call the Road Condition Hotline at 1-800-427-ROAD (7623).

For those with sensory disabilities requiring alternate formats (i.e. Braille, large print, sign language interpreter, etc.) and those needing information in a language other than English, please contact Angela Bates at (760) 881-7145 or TTY 711.
