Solo Vehicle Fatal Crash Near Olancha
On March 31, 2025, at approximately 1804 hours, the California Highway Patrol (CHP} Bishop Communications Center (BCC} received a report of a rollover crash involving a tractor-trailer on US- 395 Southbound north of Walker Creek Road. The Bishop Communications Center notified CHP Bishop Area Officers, who responded to the scene.
Upon arrival, investigators determined an adult male driving a 2012 Freightliner was traveling southbound on US-395 north of Walker Creek Road, near Olancha. For an unknown reason, the driver lost control of the vehicle and subsequently rolled onto its left side, blocking all lanes of traffic. As a result of the crash, the unrestrained driver was pronounced deceased at the scene. Alcohol and/or drugs is not believed to be a factor in this crash.
This tragic incident serves as another reminder of the dangers of driving or riding in a vehicle unrestrained. Drivers are urged to wear their seatbelts and ensure all their passengers are properly restrained.
