Richard John Malten
The Inyo County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the disappearance of Richard John Malten, a 64 year old man from Oregon House, CA. Malten is described as 5’ 08”, and 144 pounds; he has browncurly hair and brown eyes.
The Sheriff’s Department has received information that Malten’s 2001 maroon Jeep utility vehicle may have been parked unattended since July, 2011 in the Buttermilk area. A missing person’s report was filed earlier this week. Search efforts are currently being conducted in the area.
The Sheriff’s Department is requesting the public’s assistance in locating Richard Malten; anyone who may have seen or had contact with him please contact the Sheriff’s Office at: 760-878-0383.

In this report,it says his vehicle”may have” been left unattended in the Buttermilk area…Don’t understand what that means…Was the Jeep just found,or was it found before the missing person report was made?..Or was it seen,and then tied to the missing person report?…Also,is that a mug-shot photo?..If so,might it be someone that is pulling a fast one to dodge a charge or prison time?..Was he a hiker,and maybe fallen off one of those formations out there in the Buttermilks?..interesting….Hope he is found OK…
