It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Robert (Bob) Allen Matlick. Bob passed away on November 30, 2024 after a short illness. Bob passed in Visalia, California; he was 68 years old. Born to Stan and Roberta Matlick on November 4, 1956 in Bishop, California, Bob grew up in his hometown with his sister Margaret.
Bob graduated from Bishop Union High School and went on to study Ag Business at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. After college, he went to work in the banking business. Later on, he went to work as a dairy financial consultant for Frazer, LLP. ln his years in the agricultural business, he forged many friendships and grew to be a dependable leader in the industry. Upon retirement from Frazer, Bob went to work for Graham and Associates selling commercial and land real estate.
In 1996, Bob moved to Visalia and met his loving wife, Diann. They were married in Bob was a simple man; he enjoyed golfing, watching sprint car races and working on the cars in the pits with friends. Bob loved taking his boat out to the lake on the weekend and cruising with his music on high.
- He was an avid reader. Bob always found joy in the Eastern Sierra backcountry, packing, hiking and fishing for the elusive golden trout. He was deeply proud of his heritage and hometown, and sharing Bishop
- with his grandkids was a joy to him. They spent time this summer fishing and exploring the backcountry, making lasting memories.
Bob was a generous supporter of the Boys & Girls Club in Visalia. He also found a special place in his heart for several years as a volunteer and board member for Happy Trails, a local therapeutic horse-riding academy in Tulare, California.
Bob is survived by his wife Diann, his sister Margaret Matlick, his son Kyle (Rebecca) and their children Addison and Nolan. Stepsons Jacob (Chanel) James and their children Averie, Lilliana, and Aiden; and Zachary James and his children Emily and Curtis.
A funeral service will be held for Bob in Bishop on Saturday, December 14 at 11:00 am at the First United Methodist Church. A celebration of life will also be held in Visalia on Saturday, February 22, 2025 with more information to follow.
