The Inyo National Forest announces that work on the Long Valley Exploration Drilling Project is expected to begin in two weeks.
The forest has received notification from the project proponent, KORE Mining, Ltd of their intent to begin exploratory drilling as early as Tuesday, November 30, 2021. Previously, work was expected to begin as early as Tuesday, November 16, 2021. Additionally, the project will proceed with limited activities.
The public should expect that heavy equipment including a drill rig will be on the roads near Whitmore Hot Springs and Antelope Springs Roads.
The project is approved based upon the proposed Plan of Operations submitted by KORE Mining, Ltd that is for mineral exploration only. An application has not been submitted or proposed for mineral extraction (mining).
On October 21, several organizations filed a complaint in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of California challenging the project. The case number is 2:21-cv-01955A.

I wish them good luck. I hope they are careful not to harm the environment. But we need the local jobs. I just hope they try to do it the right way.

No wilderness areas in the Bodie hills David, but you knew that. There are 3 wilderness study areas, but that’s a lot different than a wilderness area. looks like CNN and MSNBC reporting is rubbing off on you. Mono person; Check my spelling please.

Have you ever been to or spent time in the Bodie Hills ?
Whether the Government designates an area as “wilderness” or not…the Bodie Hills is a wilderness area,and not meant to be trampled on by multi-million dollar attempts at money ventures from greedy out of State companies..
Yeah. I worked in them there hills (that’ll get the grammar police going)for 2 yrs. and bow hunted there for about 15. I still spend probably more time in that area per year than you have in your life. Have a pleasant evening.
Also, those guys had to stay somewhere…..motel owners, apartment owners, restaurants, did well for that short period. There are a lot of areas of “grey”….
