Los Angelas Department of Water and Power (LADWP) want to remind everyone of the dangers of the high water flow around the Owens Valley Gorge from Long Valley Dam to the Control Gorge Power Plant. LADWP released the follow statement:
We would like to reiterate that swift water is dangerous. High water levels with strong currents like those found in sections of the Owens River and aqueduct pose significant hazards that could result in personal injury and property damage.
From August 29 – September 6, 2022, LADWP is releasing higher-than-normal water down the Owens River Gorge in cooperation with the California Department of Fish and Wildlife and Mono County. No public access will be allowed within the Owens River Gorge from Long Valley Dam to the Control Gorge Power Plant.
Please adhere to all Aqueduct Operations posted signs.
