Red Meadows

This description explains why Reds Meadow is a popular destination during the summer months:  With crystal-clear streams, sparkling lakes and majestic forests, Reds Meadow Valley is an ideal place to camp during the summer and enjoy fishing, hiking or riding a horse through this pristine setting. Located on the other side of Mammoth Mountain, there are seven campgrounds in the area: Agnew MeadowsMinaret FallsReds MeadowPumice FlatUpper Soda SpringsPumice Flat Group and Devils Postpile. Many of the campsites at Reds Meadow are located on the scenic Reds Creek, close to hiking trails such as the 1.5-mile Sotcher Lake Trail and the 12-mile Devils Postpile Trail.

Reds Meadow Valley is also home to Reds Meadow Resort, a favorite spot for hikers and campers. The resort not only rents cabins, but also houses a shower facility open to the public. Their general store is a great place to stock up on necessities whether you are camping nearby or passing through along the John Muir or Pacific Crest trails. You can even send yourself a resupply package to this location.
