imgresRAY GONE FROM BISHOP SCHOOL DISTRICT

Jon Ray, former superintendent of Bishop Unified School District, lasted a month following a small rebellion from parents and teachers, primarily focused on across the board policy changes and the introduction of a new testing system.

The official statement from school board described the split as a mutual decision “that it is in our mutual interest to amicably part ways.”

The letter went on to announce a board meeting to be held today at 5:30 p.m. “to discuss appointing an interim superintendent. The Inyo Office of Education will be coordinating the search efforts and we will be actively seeking input from community members and the faculty.”

In a rare move for a government entity, the board took “ownership for being in this position and regret the disruption it has caused.”
